This beautiful wool painting depicts a gorilla thoughtfully looking out into the distance as several African butterflies surround him. The three species of butterfly seen in the picture are Precis octavia, Euphaedra janetta, and Protogoniomorpha cytora (also called the western blue beauty).
I created this painting with the needle felting technique, a process where I use barbed needles as my paintbrush and apply layer after layer of wool onto a piece of fabric. For this particular piece, I felted merino wool onto a sheet of merino wool felt. The image measures 8.5 inches round and is framed in a solid birch embroidery hoop, ready to hang on your wall. For extra security, I backed the hoop with some card stock.
This wool painting is in stock and ready to ship. It comes attractively packaged and ready for gift giving.
